Cub Swanson Proved The Doubters Wrong At UFC 206

MMA

Cub Swanson was the #4 ranked featherweight heading into a main card bout against #11 Doo Ho Choi at UFC 206. Despite being a top-5 fighter, Swanson was the underdog in the fight according to various odds makers. Swanson won the fight and he accomplished a second goal at the event, he proved the doubters wrong.

“All the film I watched on him, I was a fan of his before the fight,” Swanson said at the post-fight presser. “When he called me out, I thought it was a little disrespectful just because I felt like he only called me out because he thought I wasn’t as good as I used to be or something. It motivated me, and I was ready to come out here and prove him, and prove everyone else wrong.”

Swanson and Choi had what many consider to be the “fight of the year” at UFC 206, but despite engaging in fifteen minutes on non-stop brawling with Choi, Swanson says that he isn’t badly hurt after the fight.

“I didn’t get hurt that bad – my head’s clear,” Swanson said. “But it was just so chaotic, I don’t remember the fight. Everybody’s just saying how great of a fight it was. I was like, ‘I guess it was if you guys keep saying it.'”

Swanson only has three fighters ranked ahead of him in the UFC featherweight Division, with Jose Aldo (UFC Featherweight Champion) and Max Holloway (UFC Interim Featherweight Champion) as the dual champions in the division right now.
