Cyborg Says Winning At UFC 219 Would Be Like Beating Holly Holm & Ronda Rousey At The Same Time

UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino is preparing to defend the gold against former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm at UFC 219.

Cyborg believes that if she defeats Holm at UFC 219, then it would be like defeating Holm and former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey on the same night.

“I think if I beat Holly I will beat Ronda the same day,” Cyborg said on The MMA Hour. “I feel like that because Holly fought Ronda and when that fight happened, Dana said if Ronda beat Holly next fight would be Cyborg. Then Holly stopped Ronda before that, she beat Ronda and it’s simple to think about it. It’s simple, she beat Ronda and I never had the opportunity to fight Ronda. So I think I am going to beat both the same night.”

Holm did defeat Ronda Rousey by head kick knockout at UFC 193, but she would lose the women’s bantamweight title to Miesha Tate a few months later at UFC 196.

Rousey and Cyborg have been rivals for many years now, but the two were never able to collide inside of the Octagon.

UFC 219 takes place on Saturday, December 30 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
