UFC President Dana White says Anderson Silva is free to take his business elsewhere.
White confirmed to TMZ Sports that Silva is no longer under UFC contract. The news was first reported by MMA Fighting and subsequently denied by White before being confirmed by White mere hours later.
The former UFC middleweight champion is coming off a loss to Uriah Hall on October 31 in what was dubbed by the promotion as his retirement fight. Silva (34-11-0-1) is on a 1-7 (1) run dating back to his first loss to Chris Weidman back in July 2013. The only win standing in that stretch is a unanimous decision aganist Derek Brunson in 2017.
As for the future, Bellator President Scott Coker recently revealed he had not put much thought into signing Silva. Past foe Vitor Belfort has welcomed a rematch against Anderson Silva under the ONE Championship banner.
