Former interim UFC welterweight champion, Colby Covington, appears to be the next challenger in line to face current welterweight champ, Leon Edwards.

UFC President Dana White spoke with reporters at the UFC 286 post-fight press conference on Saturday night in London, England, and confirmed that Covington will face Edwards next for the promotion's 170-pound title.

“I don’t know when we’ll do it, but that’s the fight that makes sense, and Colby came here and cut weight and did everything to be here for this fight,” White said (h/t MMA Fighting). "He deserves the fight. Not to mention that he’s the second-or third-best guy in the world. It is Leon vs. Colby next. Colby gets the next shot, No matter what happens (with Burns vs. Masvidal at UFC 287)."
