Dana White’s Contender Series is currently in the midst of season four, but after the next two episodes, it may not be back until November.
UFC President Dana White recently revealed that the show could be going on hiatus later this month because the UFC is returning to Fight Island.
“Yeah, (the hiatus) is because we’re more than likely going to ‘Fight Island,'” White said after Contender Series Episode 31 (via Nolan King & Ken Hathaway of MMA Junkie).
The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) has approved Contender Series events though October 6, but MMA Junkie reports that the September 15 episode could be the final one until November.
White himself, during the contract reveals on last night’s episode, did state that Melsik Baghdasaryan, Tucker Lutz and Nate Smith were all invited to fight again on the Contender Series in November.
No UFC events, Contender Series or otherwise, has been approved for the month of November at this time by the NAC.
