Dana White Says Amanda Nunes To Defend Women’s Featherweight Title After UFC 245

Two division UFC champion Amanda Nunes is scheduled to defend the women’s bantamweight title against Germaine De Randamie this December at UFC 245.

UFC President Dana White says Nunes is going to make a women’s featherweight title defense after the bout at UFC 245.

“She will defend it after this fight. 100 percent,” White said after this past weeks Contender Series (via Damon Martin of MMA Fighting). “She wants to and she will. Imagine her not having to cut weight.”

Nunes has yet to defend the UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship, which she won by defeating Cyborg at UFC 232.

White also cites the lack of contenders in the women’s featherweight division as to why Nunes is defending the women’s bantamweight title next.

“After beating [Cris] Cyborg and the other people that she’s beat at 35, who does she have to worry about right now that she would be like ‘oh I don’t want to defend my 145-pound title’,” says White.

UFC 245 takes place on Saturday, December 14 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
