Dana White Says Claressa Shields To Attend UFC 245, Claims She Wants To Fight Amanda Nunes

Two division UFC champion Amanda Nunes puts the women’s bantamweight title on the line against former UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Germaine De Randamie at UFC 245.

UFC President Dana White states that boxing star Claressa Shields is going to be in attendance at the event to check out the Nunes fight.

“Claressa Shields is coming,” White told BT Sport (via Damon Martin of MMA Fighting). “She’ll be here Saturday to watch the fight. She’s coming to watch the fight, and I will be honest with you, Claressa Shields’ people and I have talked. I don’t know, we’ll see. We’ve talked. I know they’re both interested in it, too. We’ll see how this whole thing plays out. We have a lot of respect for her, too, and she’s going to come to the fight and should be fun.”

Shields is a two time Olympic gold medalists and an undefeated professional boxer, but she has no professional MMA experience to speak of.

White says that whether or not Nunes fights Shields, a plethora of opponents are ready to face the two division UFC champion.

“You never run out of opponents,” White said. “Anderson Silva went on a run for a very long time, never ran out of opponents. There’s always somebody. There’s always going to be somebody next.”

UFC 245 takes place on Saturday, December 14 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
