Dana White Says Jose Aldo Deserves Bantamweight Title Shot

Former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo will challenge UFC Bantamweight Champion Henry Cejudo for the gold in the main event of UFC 250.

Some have criticized the booking since Aldo is winless at bantamweight, but UFC President Dana White says that Aldo deserves an opportunity at the belt.

“Aldo absolutely deserves this,” White said to TMZ Sports (via Tristen Critchfield of Sherdog). “Cejudo wants it. The champ-champ, the guy who won belts in two divisions wants to fight Aldo, so what does that mean? Cejudo isn’t a guy that’s running around looking for easy fights.”

Aldo also sits at #6 in the UFC Bantamweight Division as of this writing, despite not picking up a single win in the weight class.

White also says people shouldn’t want the fight if they have a problem with Aldo challenging for the bantamweight title.

“Then don’t watch it. People are full of s—t,” he said. “It’s going to be an incredible fight.”

UFC 250 takes place on Saturday, May 9 from the Ibirapeuroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
