Dana White Says There Won’t Be Any Changes For Fight Island Judges

There was some controversy in some peoples eyes this past weekend at UFC 251 when UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski scored a contentious decision win over former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway.

Despite the controversy, don’t expect to see the UFC make any changes to the judges who will score the remaining three events on Fight Island.

“No, whatever we had planned for here is planned,” UFC President Dana White said during a recent media scrum (via Nolan King & John Morgan of MMA Junkie). “No matter who you bring in or what you do, there’s always a possibility of bad decisions. Did you guys see today that FanDuel, if you bet with FanDuel, they gave you your money back on Max Holloway? Yeah, it’s pretty crazy. That there goes to show you.”

The decision by the judges was so bad in some fans eyes that death threats were allegedly issued to those in the MMA media who thought Volkanovski won the fight. The judges weren’t the only ones who had a bad night at UFC 251, as White also blasted referee Leon Roberts for letting Petr Yan destroy Jose Aldo with a plethora of unanswered strikes during the fifth round of their bantamweight title fight.
