The winner of this bout will know who they'll be facing next according to UFC President Dana White. White added that the winner of the fight will clash with Khabib Nurmagomedov and that he has high hopes for the fight tonight.

“Yeah, I’m very excited and for Holloway, Holloway gets the opportunity to erase that loss from Poirier. Both of these guys are completely different fighters from the first time they fought, and they’re both excited… they want a shot at Khabib, so this is it man." Dana said. "I’m very excited for this fight. This should be an absolute war, and Holloway has looked incredible in his last several outings and so has Poirier.”

As far as a date goes for the Nurmagomedov versus Holloway/Poirier fight, Dana is aiming for it to happen this September.

"Yeah, they’ll be the interim title holder and the next fight is Khabib.” Dana was then asked about when the fight could happen, “Hopefully September.”
