UFC President Dana White says Ronda Rousey wants to fight Cris "Cyborg" Justino, but has some unfinished business.
On HOT97, White spoke about the extended absence of Rousey and why he's supportive of her break from mixed-martial-arts.
“The truth with Ronda is this: Ronda Rousey worked her ass off for four years. She worked hard. All the time she fought, all the PR that she did for us, and more importantly the training. The training takes a lot out of you. And after the loss she said, ‘I need a break. I need time off.’ And the minute anybody says that in this business, and I say it all the time 'this ain't baseball, man', I (know) baseball players who go out and drink and party and go play baseball the next day.You don’t do that in this sport. Your head has to be in this game 24-7 and you’ve got to be a killer. The minute you think you need a break, you definitely need a break,” said White.
During Rousey's absence, Justino has made her UFC debut and fought again. Rousey and Justino have been speaking publicly about each other for years, with no fight materializing. One of the hosts of Hot97 asked White about the possibility of the fight.
"Ronda wants to fight Cyborg one hundred percent," responded White.
When asked if there was anything standing in the way of the fight, White mentioned one thing.
"(Rousey) wants to get her title back," said White.
Rousey has not been in The Octagon since November 2015; her absence came after the end of her undefeated streak. Since Rousey, no one has successfully defended the Women's Bantamweight Championship.
