Dana White Wants Georges St. Pierre On Commentary Instead Of Fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov

UFC president Dana White would rather see Georges St. Pierre calling fights than competing in them.

There has been some talk as of late that UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov wants to face former two-division UFC champion St. Pierre in the former's retirement fight.

White does not seem to keen on the idea. In fact, he would rather see GSP do work in the commentary booth.

“Well, let’s see what happens with Gaethje,” White told TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter (via Abhinav Kini of The Body Lock). “That fight’s got to happen first. We just hired GSP — he’s the French commentator for us now. That’s more what I’d like to see GSP doing.”

Nurmagomedov, before a fight with GSP can ever be a reality, must first get past UFC interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.

White would rather see St. Pierre, who last competed in the main event of UFC 217, leave the sport on top.

“You don’t see too many athletes who go out on top,” he said. “GSP has done that, done it very well. He’s got the money, he doesn’t need the money. He’s working for us now in a different capacity and I’d love to see him go out on top.”

GSP currently does French commentary for UFC events and is expected to call the action for the upcoming UFC 252 event.
