Dana White: “We're Getting Another Fight” For Tony Ferguson At UFC 254

Dana White had planned on having Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier battle at UFC 254, but that bout won’t be happening.

Poirier and the promotion could not reach on a financial agreement to see Poirier fight his fellow former UFC interim lightweight champion. The UFC President said that the promotion isn’t going to attempt to salvage the fight, as they will find a new opponent for Ferguson to fight.

“No, we’re not even trying to salvage it,” White told MMA Junkie. “We’re getting another fight. It’ll happen (with a different opponent for Ferguson).”

Outside of Poirier, other fighters in the UFC lightweight division top five that aren’t booked for fights are former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor (no. 4) and Dan Hooker (no. 5).

UFC 254 takes place on Saturday, October 24 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
