Daniel Dubois To Fight At Wembley Arena On April 27

Frank Warren has announced a new card set for the SSE Arena at Wembley next month, headlined by Daniel Dubois.

The event will take place on April 27 with Dubois taking on world-ranked heavyweight Richard Lartey. The show will also feature a pair of title fights as well as contenders Sunny Edwards and Jack Catterall in action on separate fights. Opponents for Edwards and Catterall will be announced at a later date.

Dubois has won nine of his 10 pro fights by knockout and is slowly making his way to contendership as one of the United Kingdom's top heavyweight prospects. Dubois previously fought on March 8, knocking out Razvan Cojanu in the second round. Lartey has won eight straight fights and is currently ranked No. 14 by the WBO.

Zak Chelli and Jimmy Smith will fight for the BBBofC Southern Area super middleweight title. Chelli made his pro debut in 2017 and has won all six of his fights, three of which were by knockout. Smith is on a two-fight win streak since suffering a points loss to Yailton Neves in March 2018.

The other title fight is Lerrone Richards vs. Tommy Langford for the Commonwealth and WBO International super middleweight titles. Richards sports an 11-0 record as a pro, previously winning the WBO European title back in 2017. Langford, a former interim middleweight title challenger, moved up in weight after losing three of his five fights from 2017 to 2018. Langford last fought on March 9, winning a six-round decision against Baptiste Castegnaro.

The card was announced as a response to the postponement of the Billy Joe Saunders vs. Shefat Isufi fight, which was supposed to take place just two weeks before. That fight was moved to an unspecified date in May at a venue to be announced at a later date with an April card at Wembley that ultimately resulted in the one finalized today.
