Welterweight fighter Colby Covington is under fire for his recent comments made about the people of Brazil.
Darren Till is now coming forward and claiming that people have come up to him with the request to kill Covington.
“I’ve had about a thousand messages from Brazilians, angry as well, saying they want me to kill Colby,” Till said on The MMA Hour. “(They say), ‘He’s disrespected our country and he’s disrespecting you’. You know, he really did. Why did he do that? That was ridiculous.”
Till himself recently competed at UFC Fight Night Gdansk and earned a first round TKO victory over Donald Cerrone. The welterweight wasn’t even offended by what Covington said, but he does think Covington is acting a little stupid.
“I’m not offended, I just think it’s stupid. I think Colby is trying to be this bad guy trash talker, but it’s coming off a bit (disingenuous). It’s like he’s forcing it. It’s fake,” he said. “He’s trying too hard. Just be genuine and people will like you. Not a lot of people are liking him because he’s coming off as fake. Just be real and everyone will like you. Be a genuine person, you know?”
Covington is seemingly gaining enemies by the day after isolating his teammates at American Top Team and even drawing the ire of UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley.
