David Heil Talks About Creating The McGregor “F-ck You” Suit

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather kicked off their four city press tour in Los Angeles, California.

That event may be best remembered for the suit McGregor wore, which had the words “F-ck You” going down it in a striped style.

David Heil is the CEO of David August, which is the brand that made the suit and he knows how the outfit came to be.

“I wanted to do something irreverent that brought out the ‘notorious’ in Conor,” Heil said to Esquire. “Conor is a fan of our pinstripe and plaid suits, so I felt weaving this specific phrase into the cloth was the perfect way to bring together the bespoke details of a custom suit and Conor’s personality.”

McGregor wouldn’t wear the suit during the other three stops of the tour, which were in Toronto, New York City and London.

Also, the jacket wasn’t just made from your everyday fabrics, but some special material that McGregor has been using for all his suits.

“The fabric is a custom, in-house product made of super 130s navy wool for the label, which has been dressing McGregor for the entirety of his career,” says Heil.

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
