Mark Shapiro: If UFC Could Do Another White House Event Next Year, We Would

UFC made history in July with UFC Freedom 250, which took place on the White House lawn.

The UFC lost $30 million on the event, but benefited from the exposure of running at the White House and having President Donald Trump sitting cageside and being featured throughout the broadcast.

Speaking to CNBC, TKO President Mark Shapiro says the company would run the White House again.

“It is one time,” he said about the monetary loss. “If we could do another fight at the White House next year, we would. This kind of exposure, we had news outlets covering it. Not just sports. We broke out into the mainstream. That kind of awareness for the UFC is truly unprecedented and something we’ll capitalize on in terms of business growth going forward.”

UFC Freedom 250 was headlined by Justin Gaethje defeating Ilia Topuria to win the UFC lightweight title.
