DC Wants Third Bout With Stipe Miocic, Says It’s Going To Be His Final Fight

Former two division UFC champion Daniel Cormier lost the UFC Heavyweight Title to Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 241.

That was the second encounter between the two and DC wants a third bout with Miocic, which would also serve as his retirement fight.

“I’m going to fight this guy again, and my intention is to fight him in the right way,” Cormier said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show (via MMA Fighting). “Hopefully that’s enough to get my hand raised. But I’ll go fight him again, (and) win or lose, I’m not fighting again. This will be the only time I ever step foot in the Octagon again.”

The first meeting between DC and Miocic happened at UFC 226, where Cormier scored a first round knockout win to capture the UFC Heavyweight Title.

DC says that he and Miocic are in the midst of a true heavyweight rivalry and said rivalry is carrying the sport right now.

“A true heavyweight rivalry will carry a sport, and I think right now we have that with Stipe and I,” he said. “I intend to go back and get the job done and fight the way I train to fight.”

There has been no comment yet from Miocic as to a potential third bout with Cormier, as he is still recovering from their last meeting at UFC 241.
