Demetrious Johnson Wants No Grappling Fight With Floyd Mayweather

Rumblings were created earlier this weekend when UFC President Dana White said that the promotion was negotiating with Floyd Mayweather, who quickly shot everything down.

Demetrious Johnson is the UFC Flyweight Champion and he wouldn't mind fighting Floyd Mayweather in a bout with no grappling.

“I think it would go very well for me, obviously,” Johnson told TMZ Sports. “I’m very well-rounded. It’s mixed martial arts. I would even do a handicap. I won’t even grapple with him. I won’t even go to the ground at all. I’ll get him in the clinch, bang up, hit him in the liver, kick him in the liver, take out his legs and work him.”

Mayweather had also teased coming to the UFC during the build up to the super fight with UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, which Mayweather won by tenth round TKO.

Even though the odds of the fight happening are at a minimal at best, it won’t stop Johnson from trying to make it happen.

“Floyd, come over here and beat up the smallest guy in the UFC,” said Johnson. “Come try your hand, try to beat up the smallest guy.”

Johnson was last seen in the Octagon at UFC 216 and he submitted Ray Borg on that night to break the consecutive title defense record in the promotion.
