Eddie Alvarez and Irwin Rivera's sister, Lezlye Rivera, are asking for fans to keep the fighter in their prayers after Irwin allegedly stabbed both of his sisters.
Irwin was arrested on Thursday and charged with two counts of premeditated murder after allegedly stabbing his two sisters. He allegedly claimed to carried out the act due to influence from a higher power. Former UFC champion Alvarez has trained with Irwin and insisted the act was horribly out-of-character.
“Something must of went terribly wrong or Irwin’s brain or mind needs to be checked because I know this man along with many teammates and coaches," Alvarez tweeted on Thursday. "He is all love. I’m truly sad to see this and praying for his sisters and family. This is not Irwin."

Lezlye released a statement on Friday insisting she and her sister are okay. Lezlye is standing by her brother despite the alleged murder attempt, arguing that he is mentally unwell.
"Me and kelz are fine [and] well so we just wanna clear the air [and] let it be known that this is not about us!" Lezlye wrote. "We love our brother to the fullest and anyone that knows us [and] our family knows exactly how much we all LOVE and mean to each other and knows just how close we as a family are, all we wish is for him to get the professional mental help he so desperately needs."

"This past weekend my brother hasn't been acting like himself. Not sleeping or talking like himself and completely just losing interest in his training, which we all know is what he lives to do. This concerned me and had me jump on the next airplane ASAP [and] go check up on him. Unfortunately, his mental stage was worse then we could of imagined and before we could help him he completely broke," she continued. "This is not easy for me or my family but I ask to please keep MY BROTHER in your prayers, pray he can stabilize and come back to us [because] sometime withing the past 24-hours his mentality has been completely corrupted into something unrecognizable. Again we LOVE OUR BROTHER and are 100% here to support him [and] try [and] get him this help he so desperately needs!"
