At the start of 2018, there was no guarantee that Tyson Fury would ever return to boxing, despite what appeared to be a genuine effort to fight for the first time in more than two years.
But even as Fury was trying to get the British Boxing Board of Control to give him a boxing license again after failed drug tests resulted in a lengthy suspension, Fury was confident he would get back to the world stage. Fury will look to fight for another world heavyweight title when he faces WBC champion Deontay Wilder on December 1 in Los Angeles.
In a recent media conference call, Fury was asked by Fightful whether or not he envisioned himself getting such a big fight against Wilder within months of his first comeback fight back in June.
"Yes, I did because I was very motivated and very determined. When I make my mind up on something I just do it; I don't take no prisoners, I don't beat around the bush, I don't play games, I don't play at boxing so whatever I want from boxing I take. And that's the attitude I've got," Fury said.
Fury easily took care of Sefer Seferi in that June comeback fight and then followed it up with a wide decision win over Francesco Pianeta in August, setting up the title fight against Wilder. The fight between the two heavyweight stars would be the culmination of years of anticipation since the two had a face-off in the ring after a Wilder victory in early 2016.
