Heavyweights Set For UFC 211

MMA

A heavyweight division affair has been added to this coming May’s UFC 211 card and that will see Jarjis Danho in action against Dmitry Poberezhets.

Danho (6-1-1-1NC) is currently winless under the UFC banner, having dropped a fight to Daniel Omielanczuk and then fighting Christian Colombo to a majority draw. Danho has also competed twice under the Desert Force banner, defeating the duo of Mohamed Abdel Karim and Stefan Traunmueller. Danho once had a fight end via no contest when a time keeper for his fight against David Shvelidze incorrectly timed the fight.

Poberezhets (24-5-1-1NC) will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he will be doing so on the strength of a thirteen fight winning streak, a winning streak that has lasted nearly five years. Poberezhets fought UFC veteran Daniel Omielanczuk at a January 2011 Fight On The East MMA event, the two fought to a draw. Poberezhets also held The Zone MMA Heavyweight Title, but he never actually defended the gold since winning it in November 2012 and he hasn’t competed in the promotion in over four years.

UFC 211 takes place on Saturday, May 13 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas with Stipe Miocic and Junior Dos Santos headlining.
