Israel Adesanya-Robert Whittaker Rematch Scheduled For UFC 271 In February

The anticipated rematch between UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and former champ Robert Whittaker seems to finally have found a date.

MMA Fighting's Damon Martin reported that the promotion is currently targeting UFC 271 on February 12 for the pair's second meeting and both fighters have verbally agreed to the matchup, but nothing has officially been signed yet. Adesanya is 3-1 in the four bouts he's had since knocking out Whittaker in the second round back at UFC 243 in October 2019 to become the unified champion at 185-pounds. He will try to build off of a unanimous decision win over Marvin Vettori at UFC 263 in his most recent title defense. Whittaker on the other hand is on a three-fight winning streak since losing the belt to Adesanya and is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Kelvin Gastelum back at UFC Vegas 24.
