There is a lot of problems right now in the country of China, with protests and other clashes taking place among civil unrest.
Tiago Okamura issued a statement to MMA Fighting about the situation in China, saying he has full confidence in the UFC to do what is right:
“We’ve been in many cities that have experienced issues in the past, and the UFC is always super careful with its athletes and their teams. We have total confidence that the UFC will orient us about any problem that might happen and how to deal with the situation.”
Andrade has already landed in the country ahead of the event and has been training in the China branch of the UFC Performance Institute. It is unknown at this time as to how many other fighters competing at UFC Shenzhen are currently in the country.
UFC Fight Night Shenzhen takes place on Saturday, August 31 from the Universiade Sports Centre in Shenzhen, China with Jessica Andradea and Weili Zhang headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
