Entering as a major underdog at UFC 238, Jessica Eye was unable to take Valentina Shevchenko's UFC Flyweight Title.
Instead, Eye struggled mightily, eventually falling victim to a sudden head kick early in the 2nd round. The result left many onlookers concerned, with Shevchenko ending proceedings in admittedly violent fashion. However, Eye has since updated fans on her well being, taking to Twitter and congratulating the champion along the way.
Congratulations @BulletValentina that was incredible head kick. I am thankful for the chance to share the cage with you .— Jessica Eye (@jessicaevileye) June 9, 2019
To my true supporters : thank you so much for all you do for me . I am ok and thank you for caring about me . I had a great camp and felt the best I have ever. I made some mistakes that cost me dearly. This fight game can be rough at times but it’s what I signed up for.— Jessica Eye (@jessicaevileye) June 9, 2019
Eye also posted a video on Instagram, reiterating same message:
Thank you @bulletvalentina and @ufc and to all of those who support me . I am blessed with love, support and I prepared my best but unfortunately was caught by a spectacular head kick. The fight game is a gamble and can go both ways sometimes. if you want to judge me go do it better ... --
It's unclear when Eye will eventually return to the octagon, but this response makes it clear that she'll indeed be returning before long.
