Jon Jones Says UFC Wouldn’t Budge From $15 Million Offer To Fight Alex Pereira

Jon Jones was absent from the UFC Freedom 250 card at the White House, leading fans to wonder what happened in the negotiation process. Prior to the card being announced, Jones said he was in negotiations to be part of the event with signs pointing to him facing Alex Pereira.

Pereira is on the card, challenging Cyril Gane for the Interim Heavyweight Championship.

On social media, Jones gave more insight into how negotiations went.

“was ready, willing and physically able to step in. I was willing to take substantially less than the Aspinall ask but they wouldn’t budge one dollar over $15m. I felt like our fight was worth more,” he said.

Dana White stated that Jones was never considered for the card, citing Jones’ hip issues and the fact that he announced his retirement. In previous comments, Jones stated, “Yes, I have arthritis in my hip and it’s painful, but that doesn’t mean I can’t fight,” before being asked to be released from his contract if UFC didn’t feel he could fight.

Jon Jones announced his retirement in June 2025. He was the reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion at the time of his retirement. He last fought in September 2024, defeating Stipe Miocic.
