Julianna Pena Wants Amanda Nunes To Focus On Her own Division

MMA

Julianna Pena is getting ready to headline her first UFC card this weekend when she faces Valentina Shevchenko at UFC On Fox 23. The current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion is Amanda Nunes, whom Pena says should have her focus on her own division, instead of the UFC's new 145-pound ranks.

“I think there’s a lot of competition left at 135 pounds that she should maybe consider before trying to run to another division,” she said to MMA Junkie. “God willing, I get past this fight, I’m unbeaten in the UFC, and if I was the champion, I’d want to clean out my own division before going to a different division. If there was an undefeated girl fighting at 135 pounds, I’d want to test my skills against her. But if that’s not the way she wants it, as long as all you guys know what the truth is, that’s all that matters.”

Pena also has plans of her own after this weekend’s fight.

“I’ve thought a lot about my post-fight (interview), and God willing I get this win, you guys are in for a treat,” says Pena.

UFC On Fox 23 takes place on Saturday, January 28 from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado with Julianna Pena and Valentina Shevchenko headlining.
