Justin Gaethje On Khabib Nurmagomedov: “I’m Going To Try To Beat Him Into Submission”

Justin Gaethje and Khabib Nurmagomedov will meet in a lightweight title unification match later this month in the main event of UFC 254.

The interim lightweight champion doesn’t just want to beat Nurmagomedov at UFC 254, but he wants to beat him into submission.

“I’m going to try to beat him into submission. I want him to quit. I want him to know I’m the superior athlete, the superior man. That’s the goal of this game,” Gaethje said during the UFC 254 virtual media day (via Damon Martin of MMA Fighting).

If Gaethje is able to defeat Nurmagomedov at UFC 254, it would make him the first fighter to defeat Nurmagomedov in his professional MMA career.

Gaethje also says he is the most confident he has ever been as a professional MMA fighter heading into UFC 254.

“My confidence is probably my biggest factor right now paired with the power that I possess paired with the coach that I have,” Gaethje said. “That’s a dangerous combination. And I don’t care if I win or lose at the end of the day. As long as I make my family happy, as long as I’m proud of my performance, then it doesn’t matter. That’s what makes me most dangerous. I don’t know if he’s fought somebody like that.”
