Kayla Harrison Says Ali Abdelaziz Paid Courtney King $5K Bonus To Fight

Kayla Harrison made her Invicta FC debut at Invicta FC 43, smashing Courtney King on route to a second round TKO win.

It appears that the promotion had a hard time finding an opponent for Harrison to fight because her agent in Ali Abdelaziz had to pay King an extra $5,000 to face Harrison at the event.

“That was actually…that was Courtney (King’s) decision (to have the fight at featherweight). Ali (Abdelaziz) tried to get me a fight at 155 and then a catchweight at 150 and none of the girls would accept the fight unless it was at 145. Again, I just found this out after the fight and again, credit to Ali. Not only did I have to make 145  if I wanted to fight, but he had to pay her (King) five grand on top of her purse to fight me. These girls didn’t want to fight, it’s been tough to get a fight,” Harris said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.

The fight was a big one for Harrison, as it was her first pro MMA fight outside of the PFL and her first fight at featherweight.
