Khabib Nurmagomedov Wants To Take Justin Gaethje To The "Deepest Ocean & Drown Him"

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and UFC interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje will battle in a title unification fight in the main event of UFC 254.

Gaethje, who is training with coach Trevor Wittman ahead of the fight, also worked out with UFC color commentator Joe Rogan yesterday. Rogan posted the following on Instagram:

Nurmagomedov was not impressed by the video of the training session and posted the following in the comments section (via Damon Martin of MMA Fighting):

“Justin is a very nice guy and good opponent for me, but when octagon close he have to be ready not only boxing match, I’m not Dustin [Poirier] or Tony [Ferguson]. I will take him to the deepest ocean and drown him.”

The duo was reportedly set to meet next month at UFC 253, but Nurmagomedov’s father passed away and the bout was put on hold before getting rebooked for UFC 254.

UFC 254 takes place on Saturday, October 24 from a location to be announced. Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gaethje will serve as the headliner. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event.
