Late Changes To Invicta FC 21 Card

This Saturday Night’s Invicta Fighting Championships 21 card has lost and gained a fight, with the gained fight featuring a UFC veteran.

Brieta Carpenter has been pulled from a fight against Heather Hardy after suffering a concussion while training. Hardy has also been pulled from the event because a suitable replacement couldn’t be found.

Additionally, a featherweight division fight has been added to the card as UFC veteran Elizabeth Phillips will be taking on Leah Letson.

Phillips (5-4-0) will be competing for the first time since getting released by the UFC, which came after a loss to Raquel Pennington at UFC On Fox 20. Phillips went 1-3-0 during her time in the UFC, defeating Jessamyn Duke, while suffering losses to Raquel Pennington, Valerie Letourneau and Milana Dudieva. Phillips, in an interesting twist, not only defeated Jessamyn Duke as a pro MMA fighter, but also beat her as an amateur MMA fighter in 2012.

Letson (3-1-0) will be making her Invicta FC debut in this fight and she will be doing so on the strength of a three fight winning streak. Letson’s three fight winning streak has seen her defeat a Bellator MMA veteran in Sarah Payant and a Legacy Fighting Championships veteran in Allanna Jones. Letson also went undefeated as an amateur fighter, including three wins in the King Of The Cage promotion.

Invicta FC 21 takes place on Saturday, January 14 from the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri with Megan Anderson and Charmaine Tweet headlining.
