Leon Edwards Not Impressed With "Overhyped" Khamzat Chimaev: "I’ve Done Everything He’s Done"

Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev will met in the main event of UFC Vegas 17 on December 19. Chimaev is a rising star in the UFC, but Edwards doesn’t think much of his undefeated opponent.

“I believe he’s overhyped. I was once 9-0 in my career, I once had an eight-second knockout in the UFC. I’ve done everything he’s done,” Edwards said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show (via Adam Martin of BJPenn.com).

Chimaev is currently 3-0-0 under the UFC banner, with those victories coming over the trio of Gerald Meerschaert, Rhys McKee and John Phillips. Edwards will enter the main event encounter riding an eight fight winning streak, with notable wins coming over Vicente Luque, Bryan Barberena, Donald Cerrone, Gunnar Nelson and Rafael Dos Anjos.

UFC Vegas 17 takes place on Saturday, December 19 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
