Report: Leon Edwards Removed From UFC Rankings Due To Inactivity

There was a time when Leon Edwards was ranked no. 3 in the UFC welterweight division, but that no longer seems to be the case.

Edwards, who has not competed since March 2019, has been removed from the rankings altogether due to inactivity according to multiple reports. The Sun credits TSN in their report. The change has already been made on the Japanese UFC rankings website; however, he still holds the number three spot on the English-language website. Belal Muhammad is now at no. 15 on the rankings.

The formerly ranked fighter was set to face former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley earlier this year in the main event of UFC Fight Night London, but the event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Woodley has fought twice since but Edwards has stayed at home in England. He was offered a fight against Stephen Thompson but it turned down.

While the promotion has had issues getting fighters stateside due to the pandemic, events have been held on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi and Edwards hasn’t competed on those cards other, despite other fighters from England and Europe getting the opportunity.

Cole Shelton of BJPenn.com exchanged texts with Edwards, who confirmed he is off the rankings due to inactivity:
