Luke Rockhold Blasts UFC Fighter Pay: ‘I’m Not Saying Anything That’s Not Real’

Luke Rockhold is a man who doesn't mince words.

However, Rockhold has made headlines for more than just returning to active competition. The 37-year-old took part in a media scrum ahead of his co-feature and decided to take some time to comment on the all-too-hot topic of fighter pay in the company.

Rockhold was asked about the topic of what's fair and what isn't by MMA Junkie.

"Everything I'm saying is justified and truthful, just because I'm in a position of power I shouldn't say this sh*t? F*** off, I got nothing to lose, I don't need this business. I love fighting and I'm here to fight the best motherf***ers and this happens to be the place where it's done. The company is f****ing growing and they're implementing other, little, stupid a** bonuses, like, five thousand dollars here, five thousand dollars there, what about 50 thousand dollars, man? We've been stuck on this motherf***er for 20 f****ing years. Back when GSP fought Jake [Shields]...what was it? 100 thousand? It was growing, when Lorenzo [Fertitta] and Frank [Fertitta] were running the show, there was real, grounding wires. These guys don't know what they're doing, they're letting Dana [White] run the show and suppress the sport. They need to grow, this whole f****ing thing needs to grow together, our lives are on the f****ing line, healthcare needs to be taken care of, our f****ing health needs to be taken care of. Mine has not been taken care of, there's a lot of people and a lot of things that need to change. It's like, I'm just not gonna be scared to say it. Everyone wants to...because everyone wants to get the title shot and they wanna move up, they don't say this, I've f***ing done it all and yeah, this is business and real businesses like this is about leverage, it's a game of leverage in life and it's about f***ing always keeping the upper hand, it's not just here, it's everywhere and if you let these motherf***ers think that they have that leverage, it's only gonna grow above you. So, it's just people understanding their worth."

Rockhold makes his return to the octagon at UFC 278 when he faces former title challenger, Paulo Costa in the show's co-main event.
