The main event is now set for the upcoming CES MMA 45 card as heavyweight champion Ashley Gooch is defending the championship against Juliano Coutinho.
Gooch (10-5-0) is going to be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Greg Rebello by third round TKO at CES MMA 37. Gooch is returning to the promotion after a one fight stint with the World Series Of Fighting, where he dropped a fight to UFC veteran Shawn Jordan at the WSOF 33. Gooch hasn’t seen any of his fights go the distance in over five years, as his last fight to go the distance came against Joe Yager in April of 2012.
Coutinho (7-3-0) is undefeated thus far in CES MMA competition, having defeated the duo of Eric Bedard and Chaz Morgan. Coutinho also competed twice in the World Series Of Fighting, having dropped those fights to Steve Mocco and Justin Willis. Coutingo is challenging for a championship for the first time in his professional MMA career, which has lasted just under eight years now.
CES MMA 45 takes place on Friday, August 11 from the Twin Rivers Casino in Lincoln, Rhodes Island with Ashley Gooch and Juliano Coutinho headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on AXS TV.
