Malki Kawa Says Either Kamaru Usman Or Conor McGregor Are Next For Jorge Masvidal

Jorge Masvidal scored the fastest knockout in UFC history when he decimated Ben Askren with a flying knee strike in just five seconds at UFC 239.

Malki Kawa is Masvidal’s manager and he says there are two potential opponents next for Masvidal, with the first of those being UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.

“I know Usman is interested as I spoke with him briefly at the ESPYS,” Kawa said to MMA Junkie. “Usman is dying to get back in there, so he is definitely up for it.”

Usman hasn’t competed since winning the UFC Welterweight Title by defeating Tyron Woodley by unanimous decision at UFC 235.

If Usman isn’t available for a bout, another person Masvidal would like to fight according to Kawa is former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor.

“Jorge didn’t want to wait, and we took the Askren fight knowing his next fight will be for the title if he won,” Kawa said. “So there is no hurry. Waiting for a title shot now makes most sense, unless it’s a payday (vs. McGregor).”

McGregor hasn’t competed since UFC 229, where he suffered a fourth round submission loss to UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
