Manny Pacquiao To Co-Promote Boxing Card In The Philippines On March 23

Manny Pacquiao's MP Promotions will have its first boxing card in the Philippines for 2019 and it will feature two world title eliminators.

MP Promotions will co-promote a boxing card alongside Ringstar Asia on March 23 at the Midas Hotel and Casino in Pasay City, Metro Manila. On the card are nine advertised fights with two of those bouts being eliminators for IBF world titles.

The first title eliminator is for the bantamweight belt featuring Michael Dasmarinas and Kenny Demecillo. Dasmarinas, ranked No. 4 by the IBF, is a 26-year-old fighter with a 28-2-1 record. Dasmarinas, who has not lost a fight since 2014, won the IBO title in April 2018 and has held titles such as the WBC Youth World super flyweight and the PBF bantamweight titles throughout his career.

Demecillo is on a two-fight win streak since suffering his fourth career loss back in 2017. Demecillo, sporting a 14-4-2 record, has previously won the WBF Asia Pacific and WBF Intercontinental bantamweight titles. The winner of the fight moves one step closer to getting a shot at the IBF 118-pound title currently being held by Emmanuel Rodriguez. Rodriguez is competing in the World Boxing Super Series, meaning the IBF title will be locked up in the tournament throughout most of the year.

The other IBF title eliminator is one between Samuel Salva and Rene Mark Cuarto for the world minimumweight title. Salva is a 22-year-old from the Philippines who has won all 16 of his pro bouts while Cuarto, the WBO's Oriental champion, is on a 14-fight undefeated streak dating all the way back to January 2015. The current IBF minimumweight champion is DeeJay Kriel, who recently won the title when he knocked out Carlos Licona in mid-February.
