Marina Rodriguez Not Interested In Potential Joanna Jedrzejczyk Bout: "Joanna Doesn't Want To Fight Me"

UFC women's strawweight contender, Marina Rodriguez, is looking to continue her climb up the 115-pound rankings but isn't interested in her next bout being against former champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Rodriguez spoke with reporters following her unanimous decision victory over Mackenzie Dern in the main event of this past Saturday night's UFC Vegas 39 event and said the following about her feelings on a potential bout with Jedrzejczyk.

“Sincerely – Joanna doesn’t want to fight me, so I don’t want to fight her because for me she shouldn’t be in the rankings,” Rodriguez said (h/t MMA Junkie). “She doesn’t fight anymore and needs to make space for the girls that are battling and fighting three times a year to earn a spot. It can be the Chinese fighter (Yan Xiaonan), whoever. I just prefer that it’s someone who’s in front of me, and then fight for the belt quick.”
