Marlon Sandro Issues Statement On December Arrest, Now Charged With Attempted Murder After Second Incident Earlier This Month

MMA

Bellator MMA veteran Marlon Sandro was accused of attacking his fiance Tayssa Wuensche this past December. The alleged attack not only left Wuensche with a variety of injuries, but the fighter was also booted out of Team Nova Uniao as a result.

Sandro recently spoke out in both a statement and video that was posted on Instagram, which has since been deleted.

MMA Fighting got the statements from Sandro's post, both the written and the verbal before it was deleted.

Here is what Sandro wrote on that now deleted post:

“I know I had my moment of mistake, I’m working on getting better and being a new man. I quit drinking, that was one of the things that made me lose my temper. Every person has his belief and I don’t criticize them, every one searches for your spiritual balance, and mine is church. I live in the (favela), I could be in crime doing drugs, but it’s the opposite, I want to be a better human being. I know I can be better than I was. Wanna to judge me, fine, I accept all judgements. But what do you prefer? That I give myself up to drugs? Or that I try to fix what I did wrong? What would you do if you were in my position? Justice is being done in court. I only ask this chance to all promotions.”

This is a translation of what Sandro said in the video portion of the post:

“Hey guys, I’m Marlon Sandro, MMA athlete. Guys, I came here to ask you a chance to work. I’m unemployed, I need to work, I need to fight, and I’m asking you all an opportunity. I have no problem leaving the country, traveling, working. I’m resolving my problems in justice. I know I’ve failed, I know I made a mistake, but I think that every human being has the right to redeem himself and try to fix things in life. I know I’m a good citizen. I know I failed, I know I made a mistake, but I know that I have a lot more to fix and get better. This is what I ask you guys. Only one opportunity. Think fondly, I’m here to work with you all. Thanks, guys.”

A major factor in why the Instagram post may have been deleted is that the Bellator MMA veteran was arrested after another altercation with Wuensche, according to MMA Fighting.

Sandro had allegedly entered the home of Wuensche (their relationship status was not mentioned by the report) on February 9 threatening her with a knife and also choked her with a pillow whenever the victim cried out.

The local police would later arrest Sandro under the "Lei Maria da Penha” law, which was designed to help women and protect them from domestic violence. Police had found out about the February 9 incident after Weunsche managed to get free from Sandro before texting both her mother and brother for help.

That would lead to the mother and/or brother getting a hold of the police, which would then lead to the arrest.

Since Sandro is being charged with multiple counts related to the alleged domestic violence incidents, a sentence of up to 20 years could be coming his way. There has been no date set yet as to when the fighter will appear in front of a judge.

It should also be noted that Sandro is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
