The UFC Featherweight Title is going to be defended this coming December at UFC 218 as Max Holloway is putting the gold up against Frankie Edgar.
ESPN first reported the fight.
Holloway (18-3-0) is going to be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Jose Aldo in a title unification bout at UFC 212. Holloway has also previously held the UFC Interim Featherweight Title, which he won by defeating Anthony Pettis at UFC 206. Holloway is also entering the fight on the strength of an 11 fight winning streak and he hasn’t been defeated in over four years.
Edgar (22-5-1) is a former UFC Lightweight Champion, defeating BJ Penn by decision to win the championship at UFC 112. Edgar has previously challenged for the UFC Featherweight Title before, losing to then champion Jose Aldo at UFC 156. Edgar has a 3-4-1 record in title fights during his UFC run, but he does enter this title bout on a two fight winning streak.
