Mike Perry Wanted To Die During Weight Cut

Mike Perry competed on the main card of UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale, defeating Alex Oliveira by decision.

A victorious Perry had a tough weight cut before the event, which even caused the fighter to want to die during the process.

“I was thinking about that weight cut, and, like, a couple of days ago I was like, I was like I wanted to die,” Perry said at the post-fight press conference (via Dave Doyle & Matt Erickson of MMA Junkie). “I hate this so much, everything about it. It’s just so terrible. And now I’m like on top of the world, you know?”

Perry did make weight for the event, alongside all of the other fighters who competed on the UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale card.

The fighter would now like to get a bout against Darren Till, who has previously called Perry out.

“I think the Darren Till fight is a good fight,” Perry said. “He’s called me out in the octagon, I just called him out in the octagon. I think that’s good press for the UFC to put together. The fight makes sense. I used to not want to call people out who were coming off a loss, but you know, once you’re up on the top and you got that number next to your name, I’m going to need that spot.”

Till last competed in the main event of UFC Fight Night London, suffering a second round knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal.
