Professional MMA fighter Rodolfo Ramirez has pleaded guilty to a sexual assault on a college student in Scottsdale, Arizona according to a report from KTAR News. Despite pleading guilty to the sexual assault, a soon to be sentenced Ramirez also plead not guilty to other charges, such as multiple counts of kidnapping, sexual assault, sexual abuse, and voyeurism according to AZ Central.
Ramirez has confessed to sexually assaulting an unnamed female Arizona State University student in September of 2016. The unnamed student was drinking with friends at a Scottsdale, Arizona bar and after feeling sick and unable to walk, was being lead home by a friend.
Said friend would leave the student on the corner of Shoeman Lane and Brown Avenue in order to retrieve a vehicle to get the woman home in. Surveillance footage would then show Ramirez approaching the student before putting the woman over his shoulder and going to a parking garage.
The professional MMA fighter would then sexually assault the student, before calling an Uber driver and taking her back to his apartment. Reports stated that Ramirez would continue sexually assaulting the woman at the apartment, where she would wake up the next morning with no clothes from the waist down or any memory of what happened the night before.
This unnamed student was in shock and even accepted a ride from Ramirez to a friends house, where she would call the authorities and report the incident. Members of the bar’s staff had known Ramirez and members of said staff would tell authorities which gym the fighter trained at. Ramirez would then be arrested without incident and the unnamed sexual assault victim would point the fighter out in a line up.
Sentencing is taking place on July 10 and Ramirez could be facing between seven and ten years behind bars for his actions, plus the fighter will also have to be registered on a sex offender registry. Ramirez went 2-1-0 as a professional MMA fighter and his last bout was a loss to Seth Monty at Iron Boy MMA 1 in June of 2016.
