MMA veteran and a staple of the Xtreme Couture Gym, Kyle Reyes, has tragically passed away at the age of 30.
A GoFundMe launched last week indicated that Reyes had complications after having reconstructive surgery to repair a torn biceps in his left arm. He developed pneumonia which caused his right lung to collapse, his brain to swell, and forced Reyes to be placed in the ICU. As of the creation of the fundraiser Reyes' health had apparently been improving, he no longer had pneumonia and was in stable condition.
A native of Barrigada, Guam he went 15-7 as a professional mixed martial artist and even faced off against current UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski back in September 2014 at Pacific Xtreme Combat 45. He also fought other UFC veterans Cody Gibson, Kamuela Kirk, Rolando Dy, and Walel Watson.
The tributes following the news of Reyes' passing from his peers flooded social media. Our entire team at Fightful would like to send our condolences to Kyle Reyes' family and friends during this time.
RIP Kyle Reyes. You were one of the nicest and most humble fighters I ever met. Gone way too soon. pic.twitter.com/LRd6KEKWf0— Adam Hunter (@AdamComedian) August 31, 2021
