Murodjon Akhmadaliev Hopes To Get Daniel Roman Fight In September

Murodjon Akhmadaliev is ready to get his shot at Daniel Roman and his two super bantamweight world titles.

Akhmadaliev's team sent out a press release the week after Roman scored the biggest win of his career, a 12-round majority decision against TJ Doheny to unify the WBA and IBF titles. Akhmadaliev, who fought on that same boxing card that Roman fought Doheny on April 29, is looking to get an opportunity to fight for the world title.

Even though Akhmadaliev is only six fights into his career, he has already worked his way to the top position in the WBA rankings, winning the organization's Intercontinental title in his second pro bout and is now the mandatory challenger for Roman's WBA title.

"I have been Roman?s mandatory since the end of 2018 which is a fact he and his team have completely ignored but I wanted to remind everyone that my time has come. I have defeated everyone that has been put in front of me including two opponents from Roman?s promotional team, Thompson Boxing. Roman displayed a great deal of will and dedication in his victory over Doheny, it was a great fight. Now it?s time for a true test and I hope that he is ready. I know that real Mexican fighters don?t step down from any fight and I hope that we can have a real war for the fans in September," Akhmadaliev said.

Akhmadaliev may be the mandatory challenger to Roman's WBA title, but the recent WBA rankings no longer have him at No. 1. With Brandon Figueroa recently winning the interim WBA title at 122 pounds, Akhmadaliev was demoted to No. 2 in the rankings while Figueroa jumped to No. 1 in the rankings.
