Patricio Pitbull Knocks Out Michael Chandler To Become Double Champ In Bellator 221 Superfight | FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS

MMA

Bellator had as close to a homegrown superfight as they could possibly have in the main event of Bellator 221, as perennial main eventers and champions squared off.

Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler had his latest Pitbull brother tussle Saturday night, defending against Featherweight Champion Patricio "Pitbull" Freire. For Bellator, it was two of their most loyal and consistent main event performers finally squaring off.

While it was a superfight, it was one that lasted barely a minute. Patricio Pitbull caught Chandler with a fantastic combination that dropped Chandler. Pitbull would follow Chandler to the mat, and the finish went down shortly after, making Pitbull a double champion.

Chandler would protest the stoppage, even after the replay clearly showed him out of it.

Elsewhere on the show, a man Pitbull is all too familiar with in two-time Bellator Champion Pat Curran was in action against an emerging prospect and possible future featherweight title contender in AJ McKee. McKee emerged victorious, likely punching his ticket for the upcoming Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix tournament.
