Paulo Costa was supposed to be next in line to challenge UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya for the gold, but Costa underwent biceps surgery and is expected to be out of action until mid-2020.
Adesanya would then call for Yoel Romero to get the next shot at his middleweight title, an idea that UFC President Dana White seems lukewarm on at best.
Costa isn’t very happy about the situation and in a now-deleted tweet, called Adesanya a “pussy African.”
“Adesanya is afraid, into himself knows. He try looks good but everybody so skinny and fragile as him fell afraid to fight against powerful guys. Pussy African!,” Costa tweeted.
In a separate tweet, a seemingly angry Costa stated that he wants to kill Adesanya:

Costa, in another series of now deleted tweets, also took shots at the media and alleged their bias against him (via MMA Junkie):
“Funny to see this 3D issue now. When I fought with Romero my D’s didn’t tell anyone. They didn’t take into account that I dominated and caused more impact (damage) for most of the 2 rounds. Brazilian and hard!”
“I despise commentators and newsboys drooling gringos egg. I will be champion just for me and my fans, don’t feel champions with my belt just for being Brazilian.”
There is no word at this time as to when Adesanya will make his first title defense, but a bout against Costa seems like a given in the future considering the growing hatred between them both.
