PFL Launching PFL Studios, Four Original Series To Air On ESPN In 2020

There is no PFL Season 3 in 2020 due to the coronavirus, but that hasn’t stopped the promotion from airing new content in 2020.

That’s because the promotion is teaming up with ESPN to launch PFL Studios, which will produce four different series that will air on the ESPN family of networks later this year.

“We have established our live-event presentation, so now we are focused on expanding our storytelling with original content stories about MMA, about the PFL, and of course, about our fighters,” PFL CEO Peter Murray said to Variety. “We believe it’s the right time to do it. MMA has experienced explosive growth over the past two years, and it has yet to reach its peak.”

The four series being produced by PFL Studios are “Fantastic Finishes” (a seven episode series that will show the best finishes in PFL history), “Inside The Season” (a behind the scenes look at the second season of the PFL), “A Champion’s Journey” (showcasing Kayla Harrison, Lance Palmer & Ray Cooper III’s journey to PFL gold) and “The Randy Couture Story” (a documentary on the legendary Randy Couture).

Murray also says showing outside the cage content is a natural expansion for the PFL.

“We have put an expanded focus on original content outside of the cage. This is a natural evolution of our company. We are not just an event company. We are a media company and a content company,” says Murray.

Everything kicks off later this month with "Fantastic Finishes," while the rest of the programming will debut on ESPN later this year.
