A plethora of bouts have been added to UFC Fight Night Newark according to MMA Junkie as #7 Volkan Oezdemir faces #9 Ilir Latifi, Jim Miller faces Clay Guida, Joaquim Silva faces Nasrat Haqparast, Jordan Espinosa faces Matt Schnell, #8 Lauren Murphy faces #12 Mara Romero Borella, Antonina Shevchenko faces Lucie Pudilova, Trevin Giles faces Gerald Meerschaert, Darko Stosic faces Kennedy Nzechukwu, Ramazan Emeev faces Claudio Silva and Scott Holtzman faces Dong Hyun Ma.
Oezdemir (15-4-0) enters the contest on a three fight losing streak and he hasn’t picked up a win in almost two years. Latifi (14-6-0-1NC) has won two of his last three under the UFC banner and is competing for the first time in 2019.
Miller (30-13-0-1NC) has seen his last four bouts end within the opening round and it has been almost two years since the fighter went the distance. Guida (35-18-0) has won three of his last four bouts and will fight for the second time in less than three months.
Silva (11-1-0) has suffered just a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that loss came to Vinc Pichel at UFC On Fox 27. Haqparast (10-2-0) enters the contest on a two fight winning streak and all three of his UFC bouts went the distance.
Espinosa (14-5-0-1NC) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, defeating Eric Shelton by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night Nashville. Schnell (13-4-0) enters the contest while riding a three fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in over two years.
Murphy (10-4-0) has rotated wins and losses in her last five fights, with the last bout being a loss to Sijara Eubanks at UFC Fight Night Utica. Borella (12-5-0-2NC) has won two of three under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Kalindra Faria and Talia Santos.
Shevchenko (7-1-0) is looking to rebound from her first professional MMA defeat, which came against Roxanne Modafferi at UFC Fight Night St. Petersburg. Pudilova (8-4-0) enters the contest on a two bout losing streak and she hasn’t earned a victory in over a year.
Giles (11-1-0) is looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came against Zak Cummings at UFC Fight Night Rochester. Meerschaert (28-11-0) enters the bout while riding a two fight losing streak, but twenty of his professional MMA wins came by way of decision.
Stosic (13-2-0) has picked up just a single win in the UFC and that came against Jeremy Kimball at UFC Fight Night Hamburg. Nzechukwu (6-1-0) is winless thus far under the UFC banner, dropping a bout to Paul Craig at UFC Fight Night Philadelphia.
Emeev (18-3-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner and all three of those wins came by way of decision. Silva (13-1-0) is also undefeated thus far during his UFC tenure and he hasn’t been beaten in over a decade.
Holtzman (12-3-0) has competed eight times in the UFC and all of those bouts made it into the third round. Ma (16-9-3) has won three of six under the UFC banner and all three of those losses came by way of KO/TKO.
