Report: 13 Fighters Cut By The UFC, Mairbek Taisumov Among Them

It would appear that the UFC roster has been trimmed by thirteen fighters as the promotion reportedly made a round of cuts in recent days. 

Tom Feely of Sherdog revealed the cuts, with those released fighters consisting of Mairbek Taisumov, Tonya Evinger, Dong Hyun Ma, Chance Rencountre, Matthew Lopez, Cyril Asker, Khalid Murtazaliev, Talita Bernardo, Jodie Esquibel, Kyle Prepolec, Marcos Mariano, Isabela de Padua and Zhenhong Lu.

Taisumov (27-6-0, 7-2-0 UFC) picked up a total of seven wins in the UFC, with notable victories coming over Alan Patrick, Damir Hadzovic and Desmond Green. 

Evinger (19-8-0-1NC, 0-3-0 UFC) went winless during her time in the UFC, but the fighter is a former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion.

Ma (16-11-3, 3-5-0 UFC) hasn’t won a bout in the UFC in over two years, with that last win coming over Damien Brown at UFC 221.

Rencountre (14-4-0, 2-2-0 UFC) picked up two wins in the UFC, picking up victories over Kyle Stewart and Ismail Naurdiev.

Lopez (10-4-0, 2-4-0 UFC) leaves the promotion riding a three fight losing streak and he hasn’t won a fight in almost three years. 

Asker (9-4-0, 2-3-0 UFC) rotated wins and losses throughout his UFC run, with the last bout being a first round TKO loss to Tai Tuivasa at UFC 221. 

Murtazaliev (14-2-0, 1-0-0 UFC) only competed once in the UFC, which was a second round TKO win over CB Dollaway at UFC Fight Night Moscow.

Bernardo (6-4-0, 1-3-0 UFC) picked up a single win under the UFC banner, which came against Sarah Moras at UFC Fight Night Hamburg.

Esquibel (6-6-0, 0-4-0 UFC) hasn’t earned a victory in almost three years and all but two of her professional MMA fights went the distance.

Prepolec (12-7-0, 0-2-0 UFC) went winless during his time in the UFC, dropping bouts to Nordine Taleb and Austin Hubbard.

Mariano (6-6-0, 0-2-0 UFC) didn’t pick up a win during his UFC tenure, last competing at UFC Fight Night Mexico City in September of 2019. 

De Padua (5-2-0, 0-1-0 UFC) only fought once in the UFC, which was a unanimous decision loss to Ariane Lipski at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo.

Lu (17-6-0, 0-0-0 UFC) never got a chance to even fight in the UFC and he hasn’t competed in nearly a full year.
