Report: Alexa Grasso Faces Carla Esparza At UFC Fight Night Mexico City

A women’s strawweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Mexico City according to La Aficion as #9 Carla Esparza is going to be in action against #11 Alexa Grasso.

Esparza (14-6-0) has won just one of her last three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming against Virna Jandiroba at UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale. Esparza was the first ever UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion, defeating Rose Namajunas to win the gold at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale to win the gold. Esparza is also a former Invicta FC Strawweight Champion, defeating Bec Rawlings to win that belt at Invicta FC 4.

Grasso (11-2-0) has rotated wins and losses throughout her UFC run, with the latest bout being a unanimous decision win over Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 238. Grasso has competed thirteen times as a professional MMA fighter and eight of those bouts went the distance. Grasso has picked up eleven wins as a professional MMA fighter, but she has yet to earn a victory by way of submission.
